Hamburger SV was formed on 2 June 1919 by the merger of SC Germania, Hamburger FC and FC Falke 06; the club statutes treat 29 September 1887, when SC Germania was founded, as its traditional founding date. HSV have won six German championships and three DFB-Pokals, plus the Cup Winners' Cup in 1976-77 and the European Cup in 1982-83. Until its first relegation in 2018 it was the only club to have played in every Bundesliga season, earning the nickname Bundesliga-Dino. HSV play at the Volksparkstadion in Bahrenfeld and are known as Die Rothosen for their red shorts.
