Chat Rules
Last updated: September 28, 2026
These Chat Rules apply to the match chat rooms in the Rotascore app, operated by DURBAY OTOMOTİV MİMARLIK İNŞAAT TİCARET LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ. They form part of our Terms of Use. Before your first message the app shows you a short version of these rules (version 1), which you accept; this page explains them in full, including how we moderate and how you can challenge a decision.
1. Who can use chat
- Every match has its own chat room. The room stays open until 24 hours after the match ends; it then closes and its messages are deleted.
- Reading and writing require a Rotascore account signed in with Apple or Google, and a nickname that other users see. Choose a nickname that does not reveal your real name or contact details and does not impersonate anyone.
- Messages can be shown to readers in another language; that translation happens on the reader's own device.
2. Minors
Rotascore is not directed at children under 13, and nobody under 13 may use chat (see our Privacy Policy). If you are under 18, do not share personal information about yourself or anyone else. Content that sexualises or targets minors is removed immediately, the account is banned and, where the law requires it, we report it to the competent authorities. Betting content is never allowed in chat; gambling is for adults only.
3. What is welcome
- Talking about the match, teams, players, tactics and results — including strong opinions and friendly banter.
- Criticism of play, clubs and officials that does not attack anyone as a person.
- Writing in any language, as long as you follow the rules below.
4. What is not allowed
- Hate speech, discrimination or racism, including against anyone's ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
- Harassment, threats, bullying or targeting a person — other users, players, referees or anyone else.
- Calls for violence and content that promotes self-harm.
- Sexual content, and anything that sexualises or targets minors.
- Profanity and insults.
- Spam, advertising and links; promoting betting, tipster services or betting sites, in particular illegal betting.
- Impersonating another person or Rotascore staff; sharing anyone's private data (for example phone numbers, addresses, identity documents or photos).
- Distorting words to get past the filter, and using another account to get around a mute or ban.
- Any other content that is illegal under applicable law, including content that infringes copyright or other rights.
5. How we moderate
- Before publication. Structural checks and a blocklist run on every message. A message they stop is simply not shown; it does not count as a strike.
- Automated review. Message text is also checked by an automated moderation service (the OpenAI moderation API). Most messages are checked before they appear; if the check takes longer, the message is published and hidden a moment later if the service flags it. Automated results are applied under these rules; a temporary outage of the service is never treated as a decision against you.
- Reports. When three different users report the same message, it is hidden automatically until a moderator reviews it.
- Human moderators. Rotascore staff and users we appoint as moderators review reports and can act on messages and accounts. Moderators cannot act against staff or other moderators, and nobody can moderate themselves. Every action is logged.
- Room controls. We may slow down a busy room (slow mode) or close chat for a match.
6. Reporting content
Long-press a message in the app: Report sends it to our moderators with a reason (spam, abuse or harassment, hate speech, or other); Block hides that person's messages from you. They are separate actions, and the reported user is not told who reported them.
You can also report content — including content you believe is illegal, and even without an account — by email to [email protected] with the subject “Chat report”. Please include the match and the approximate time, the nickname and the message, why you believe it breaks these rules or the law, and a statement that your report is accurate and made in good faith. We confirm receipt, decide without undue delay and tell you the outcome.
7. Moderation actions
- Removing a message. The message is hidden from the room. You still see it yourself, marked as removed for breaking the chat rules. A removal can be reversed.
- Mute. You cannot send messages for a set period (for example 10 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day; at most 30 days). The app shows how long the mute lasts.
- Ban. You can no longer write in any chat room. A ban is permanent unless it is lifted on appeal.
- Sanctions normally come in steps — a warning, then a mute, then a permanent ban — but serious violations (for example threats, content targeting minors or illegal content) lead straight to a ban.
- Rotascore can grant and withdraw moderator rights at any time.
8. Notification and statement of reasons
When we restrict your content or your account, the app tells you at that moment: a removed message is labelled as removed, and a mute or ban is shown when you try to write. If you ask by email at [email protected], we send you a statement of reasons: what was restricted and for how long, the facts and the rule we relied on, whether automated means were used, and how you can challenge the decision.
9. Complaints and appeals
If you disagree with a decision — or with our decision not to act on your report — email [email protected] with the subject “Chat appeal” within six months of the decision, giving your nickname, the match and why you think the decision is wrong. A person who was not involved in the original decision reviews your complaint; it is not decided solely by automated means. If we got it wrong, we restore the message or lift the restriction without delay. This does not affect your right to turn to an out-of-court dispute settlement body where one is available (in the EU, under Article 21 of the Digital Services Act) or to go to court.
10. Repeat infringers and misuse
Accounts that repeatedly post content that breaks these rules receive longer mutes and are then banned permanently. Creating another account to get around a mute or ban leads to a ban of that account too. If someone frequently submits reports or complaints that are clearly unfounded, we may, after a warning, stop processing their reports for a reasonable period.
11. Threats to life or safety
If we become aware of information that gives rise to a suspicion that a criminal offence involving a threat to someone's life or safety has taken place, is taking place or is likely to take place, we inform the competent law-enforcement or judicial authorities and provide the information available to us.
12. Your data
Chat messages are deleted when the room closes, 24 hours after the match ends. To handle reports and complaints, messages removed by moderation are kept in a restricted moderation archive for 7 days, records of messages the filter rejected for 48 hours, and moderation logs and report records for as long as they are needed to document decisions and handle complaints. More detail: our Privacy Policy and, for Turkey, the KVKK Privacy Notice.
13. Changes and contact
If we change these rules in a way that matters, we raise the version number and the app asks you to accept the new version before you write again. Questions: [email protected]. Our point of contact under the EU Digital Services Act is listed under Company Information.
